Description

A comforting and convenient dinner option that brings family together with every messy bite of savory goodness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Brown the beef. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Use a spatula to break it apart as it cooks for 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the onion. Toss in the chopped onion with the browned beef and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes until tender.
  3. Mix in your other ingredients. In the slow cooker, combine the beef and onion with the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and salt and pepper. Stir until evenly mixed.
  4. Cook low and slow. Cover the slow cooker and set it to low for about 240-300 minutes or high for 120-180 minutes.
  5. Serve it up. Once ready, heap the meaty goodness onto the hamburger buns and let everyone assemble their Sloppy Joe masterpiece.

Notes

Leftovers taste even better the next day! You can freeze extras for those lazy dinner nights.
