About

Real recipes from real Southern kitchens, tested by experienced home cooks who live and breathe comfort food.

Welcome to Our Kitchen

At CrockCozy, we believe that the best food takes time and love. We’re not celebrity chefs with Michelin stars or viral TikTok accounts. We’re real home cooks with decades of combined experience in Southern kitchens, and we’re here to share the kind of slow-cooked comfort food that fills your home with warmth and brings your family together around the table.

Every recipe on CrockCozy is tested multiple times in real home kitchens not AI-generated, not thrown together for clicks, and never published without our stamp of approval. We use the same slow cookers you do, shop at the same grocery stores, and face the same weeknight dinner challenges. When we say a recipe works, it’s because we’ve made it, tasted it, adjusted it, and made it again.

Founded in 2024 by Southern food storyteller Lila Morrison, CrockCozy brings together generations of kitchen wisdom with modern simplicity. Whether you’re cooking for your family, hosting friends, or meal prepping for the week ahead, we’re here to help you slow down, simplify dinner, and savor every bite.

Our Mission: Authentic Recipes You Can Trust

Lila Morrison, a smiling 46-year-old Southern woman with brown hair and hazel eyes, prepares a hearty crockpot meal in her cozy rustic kitchen filled with warm light and wooden accents, capturing the comfort and charm of authentic Southern cooking.

Our mission is simple: to preserve and share authentic Southern slow cooker cooking that honors generations of home cooks while making it accessible to modern families.

What sets CrockCozy apart:

  • Every Recipe is Tested: No recipe goes live until it’s been cooked, tasted, and adjusted by our team multiple times. We cook in real home kitchens with standard equipment, not professional test kitchens.
  • Real Culinary Experience: Our contributors have decades of combined cooking experience, formal education in Southern foodways, and recognition from respected publications like Southern Living and Southern Plate Magazine.
  • Rooted in Tradition: Our recipes aren’t trendy or gimmicky. They’re rooted in authentic Southern cooking traditions passed down through generations of home cooks.
  • No AI-Generated Fluff: We don’t use AI to generate recipes or content. Every word is written by a real person who actually cooked the dish.
  • Honest Recommendations: When we recommend products or ingredients, it’s because we use and love them not because they offer the highest affiliate commission.

How CrockCozy Began

CrockCozy was born from a simple observation: in our fast-paced world, we’ve lost touch with the kind of cooking that brings families together. Lila Morrison, our founder, grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi, where the kitchen was the heart of the home and every meal told a story.

After years of collecting family recipes, testing them in her slow cooker, and sharing them with friends, Lila realized there was a hunger (pun intended) for authentic, trustworthy slow cooker recipes that didn’t require culinary school or hours of active cooking time.

In 2024, she launched CrockCozy with a clear vision: create a place where home cooks could find reliable, tested recipes that honor Southern cooking traditions while fitting into modern, busy lives. She brought together two other experienced Southern cooks Savannah Mae Dubois and Eleanor “Ellie” Mae Jenkins and together they’ve built a trusted resource for slow cooker comfort food.

Today, CrockCozy serves thousands of home cooks every month, helping them put delicious, soul-satisfying meals on the table with minimal stress and maximum flavor.

Our Recipe Development Process

We don’t publish recipes lightly. Every recipe on CrockCozy goes through a rigorous development and testing process to ensure it works in real home kitchens.

Step 1: Recipe Development

Our recipes come from three sources:

  • Family heritage recipes passed down through generations, adapted for modern slow cookers
  • Original recipe development based on traditional Southern cooking techniques
  • Reader requests for specific dishes or adaptations

Step 2: Initial Testing

Each recipe is first tested by the recipe developer in their home kitchen using:

  • Standard slow cookers (6-quart oval or round models available at any retailer)
  • Ingredients available at regular grocery stores (no specialty items you can’t find)
  • Realistic prep times for busy home cooks

We document everything: ingredient brands used, exact cooking times, adjustments made, family feedback, and potential issues.

Step 3: Verification Testing

A second team member tests the recipe independently to verify:

  • Instructions are clear and easy to follow
  • Cooking times are accurate for different slow cooker models
  • Results are consistent across different testers
  • The recipe works with commonly available ingredient brands

Step 4: Adjustments & Final Testing

Based on testing feedback, we make any necessary adjustments and test again until we’re confident the recipe will work reliably for our readers.

Step 5: Documentation & Publication

Only after multiple successful tests do we:

  • Write detailed, step-by-step instructions
  • Photograph the finished dish
  • Include helpful tips, variations, and troubleshooting advice
  • Publish the recipe with our stamp of approval

Result: When you make a CrockCozy recipe, you’re getting something that has been cooked and refined multiple times by experienced cooks not a first-draft recipe thrown together for content.
