- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 cup all-purpose or whole wheat flour
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Prepare the apples: Slice and peel the apples, placing the slices in a large bowl.
- Add lemon juice and sugar: Sprinkle lemon juice over the apples, then add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Toss to coat.
- Layer the apples in the slow cooker: Pour the apple mixture into the slow cooker, spreading it evenly.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine flour, oats, and a pinch of salt.
- Add butter: Pour melted butter into the dry mixture and stir until crumbly.
- Top the apples: Sprinkle the flour-oat mixture over the apples in the slow cooker.
- Cook the pie: Cover and set the slow cooker to low for 6-8 hours, checking tenderness after 6 hours.
- Serve warm: Once done, serve warm directly from the slow cooker.
Notes
Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days.
