A classic comfort food, these Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes are simple to prepare, allowing you to enjoy family time while they simmer away.
Ingredients

- 2 pounds of ground beef (or turkey)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup of ketchup
- 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of mustard (yellow or Dijon)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Buns for serving
Instructions
- Brown the beef in a skillet over medium heat until nicely browned. Drain the fat and set aside.
- Sauté the chopped onion in the same skillet until soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Mix together the browned beef, sautéed onions, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, mustard, salt, and pepper in the slow cooker.
- Set the slow cooker on low and cook for 4 to 5 hours.
- Check the mixture about 30 minutes before serving and stir. It will thicken as it cooks.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days; reheating can be done on the stovetop or in the slow cooker.
