Description
Juicy pulled pork made in a slow cooker, perfect for sandwich nights.
Ingredients

- 3 to 5 pounds pork shoulder (Boston butt)
- 1 large onion, sliced (optional)
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder or cayenne (optional)
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup chicken broth or apple juice
- 1 to 1 1/2 cups BBQ sauce, plus more for serving
- Buns and any toppings you love
Instructions
- Scatter the onions in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Mix the dry seasonings in a small bowl, then rub them all over the pork.
- Place the pork in the slow cooker and pour the liquid around it.
- Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or on high for 5 to 6 hours until it shreds easily.
- Remove the pork and shred it using two forks.
- Pour off most of the cooking liquid, but keep a little. Add the shredded pork back in with BBQ sauce.
- Let the pork sit on warm for 15 to 20 minutes to soak in the flavors.
Notes
Serve with coleslaw, pickles, or corn salad for a complete meal.
