Description

A cozy and filling hot dog chili recipe perfect for game day, rich in flavor and easy to make in a slow cooker.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (or mix of beef and pork)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 to 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: pinch of cayenne or hot sauce
  • Optional: splash of beef broth

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet to drain grease.
  2. Add beef to slow cooker and stir in onion, garlic, tomato sauce, tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, sugar, mustard, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 240 to 360 minutes or on high for 120 to 180 minutes.
  4. Check thickness; adjust with broth if too thick or let it cook longer if too thin.

Notes

Chili can be served with various toppings like cheese, diced onions, and sour cream. Perfect for chili dogs.
