- 1 cup water
- 2 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 quarts oil (for frying)
- 1/2 cup white sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
Instructions
- Combine water, 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a gentle boil, then remove from heat.
- Add flour to the mixture, stirring until it forms a ball.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or deep skillet to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Pipe strips of dough into hot oil, frying in small batches for about 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Drain cooked churros on paper towels.
- Combine 1/2 cup sugar and ground cinnamon in a shallow dish and roll the drained churros in this mixture.
- Melt chocolate chips with a few teaspoons of heavy cream until glossy for dipping.
Notes
For best results, serve churros warm. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature, and reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes.
