Ingredients

- 1 pound sausage
- 12 eggs
- 3 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 slices bread, cubed
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1/2 cup chopped onions (optional)
- 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers (optional)
Instructions
- In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Add the cubed bread, cooked sausage, cheese, and any optional ingredients to the egg mixture. Stir gently.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- The next morning, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake uncovered for about 45-50 minutes or until the casserole is set and golden on top.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For leftovers, let cool to room temperature, then store tightly covered. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
