Description

Tender and flavorful beef short ribs cooked slowly in a sweet and tangy honey balsamic glaze.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 to 4 pounds beef short ribs (bone-in recommended)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 to 3 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • Fresh or dried rosemary or thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the short ribs with salt and pepper.
  2. If desired, brown the short ribs in a separate pan for 5 minutes.
  3. Place the short ribs in the slow cooker.
  4. Add the onion and garlic to the slow cooker.
  5. Pour the broth, honey, and balsamic vinegar over the short ribs.
  6. If using, add the herbs on top.
  7. Set the slow cooker to low for 8 hours or high for 5-6 hours.
  8. Once cooked, remove the short ribs and keep warm.
  9. Pour the cooking liquid into a saucepan and boil until thickened, about 10 minutes.
  10. Serve the short ribs drizzled with the thick glaze.

Notes

This recipe can be made ahead and even tastes better the next day. Great for freezing leftovers.
