Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices of bread (regular, brioche, or challah)
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup streusel topping (optional)
  • Syrup or powdered sugar for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until combined.
  3. Cut the bread into cubes and add to the egg mixture, stirring to combine and ensuring the bread soaks up the custard.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and sprinkle the streusel topping over the top.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until set and golden.
  6. Serve warm with syrup or powdered sugar.
