Description

A heartwarming slow cooker dish full of creamy potatoes and cheese that brings comfort to the family dinner table.


Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Paprika for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Alternatively, prepare your slow cooker.
  2. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, and sauté the onions until translucent.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream, add salt and pepper, and bring to a simmer.
  5. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes in the baking dish, then sprinkle with cheese.
  6. Layer the remaining potatoes on top, followed by the rest of the cream mixture, and top with more cheese.
  7. Sprinkle paprika on top, if desired.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
  9. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

You can make this dish in a slow cooker by cooking it on low for 6-8 hours. Leftovers can be reheated gently in the oven or microwave.
