- 4 medium potatoes, sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Paprika for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Alternatively, prepare your slow cooker.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, and sauté the onions until translucent.
- Pour in the heavy cream, add salt and pepper, and bring to a simmer.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes in the baking dish, then sprinkle with cheese.
- Layer the remaining potatoes on top, followed by the rest of the cream mixture, and top with more cheese.
- Sprinkle paprika on top, if desired.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
- Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
You can make this dish in a slow cooker by cooking it on low for 6-8 hours. Leftovers can be reheated gently in the oven or microwave.
