Description

A comforting, one-pot meal featuring layers of melty cheese and saucy beef that’s easy to prepare in a slow cooker.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (or half turkey)
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can Sloppy Joe sauce (such as Manwich)
  • 2 cups elbow noodles (or pasta of choice)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Diced bell pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess grease.
  2. Combine cooked beef, onion, and garlic in the Crock Pot.
  3. Add Sloppy Joe sauce, tomato sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  4. Cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours.
  5. Before serving, stir in cooked noodles and half the cheese. Let sit for 5-10 minutes to meld together.
  6. Top with remaining cheese and serve warm.

Notes

Can be made ahead by prepping and refrigerating the beef and onions the night before. This casserole freezes well for future meals.
