Description

A hearty and easy recipe for 3 bean chili made in a slow cooker, perfect for using up pantry staples.


Ingredients

  • 1 can black beans
  • 1 can kidney beans
  • 1 can pinto beans
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced (optional)
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef or turkey with chopped onion in a frying pan (if using).
  2. In a crock pot, add all beans, diced tomatoes, onion, bell pepper, and browned meat.
  3. Sprinkle in chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and salt.
  4. Stir everything and set your slow cooker for 4-5 hours on high or 7-8 hours on low.
  5. If your chili is too runny, remove the lid for the last half hour to thicken.
